American Electronics, Inc. (Amelex) is a woman-owned small business providing high-quality solutions to Department of Defense, federal, civilian, and commercial customers. Since 1982, Amelex has remained focused on understanding our customers’ requirements, aligning our support with their mission objectives, and delivering measurable results.

For more than 40 years, Amelex has combined technical expertise with responsive, collaborative support to help our customers achieve their goals. Amelex was founded in 1982 as a specialized engineering firm supporting the U.S. Navy. In 1987, we opened our first field office in Patuxent River, Maryland, providing engineering support to the Identification Systems Division of the Naval Electronic Systems Engineering Activity, now part of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division.

In 2003, Amelex was purchased by Dawn Rich and Kim Oliver, beginning the next chapter in the company’s growth and development. Under their leadership, Amelex expanded its capabilities, customer base, and geographic presence while maintaining the responsive, customer-focused approach that has defined the company since its founding.

Today, Amelex remains proudly owned by Dawn Rich and Kim Oliver and is led by Jackie Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer, with the support of an experienced leadership team that includes Peter Fortescue, Director of Contracts & Finance; Deana Kilgore, Director of Human Resources; and Patrick Murphy, Director of Technology. Together, the leadership team continues to build on Amelex’s more than 40-year legacy while positioning the company for continued growth and success.

Amelex is headquartered in California, Maryland, with employees supporting customers at locations across the United States. Our personnel currently provide on-site support in locations including Patuxent River, Maryland; St. Inigoes, Maryland; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
